Scope of Business

Since its establishment, GOSCO has undertaken all business of shipping agency and provided the clients with value-added services with its own characteristics.

I. Container Ships
As most liners use specified terminal with operation in short time, the information of cargo readiness and pre-stowage plan for the ship need to be accurate and strict. In view of this, the operational procedures are designed to ensure efficient agency service accordingly. Pre-stowage plan is to make possible based on the accurate and sufficient information obtained from various parties concerned in advance, and the clients are to be kept informed.

We have established good relationship with lots of world-renowned shipping liners, for instance ANL, CMA, CSC, CSAV, EVERGREEN, HEUNG-A, HAMBURG SUD and HMM. At this stage, the handled ship calls are over 30 and export containers handled over 4000 TEU monthly.

II. Bulk Carriers
The shipment of cargo such as iron ore, coal and grain, etc. needs bulk terminal with special facilities. Some other cargo in bulk could use general berth. Since the bulk cargo is usually in large quantities, the operations need relatively long time and the terminal becomes congested, calling for high efficiency in stevedoring, storage, and packaging. In view of this, operating rules for bulk carriers are made accordingly. Immediately after accepting appointment from the clients, the boarding agent will liaise with port authorities for the information of port congestion and the condition of stevedoring facilities, to confirm the best estimated time of berthing. While the vessel stays in the port, the boarding agent is reachable 24/7, for any problem that might arise.

We have established sound business relations with such clients as IMC, MINGWAH, UNITHAI, FAR EAST and TRANSPOOL, etc. We currently handle 2-3 bulk carries every month.

III. General Cargo Ships
General cargo shipment includes a wide variety of cargo and usually weighs some 1,000 to 10,000 MT. The complexity of operating general cargo requires stevedoring and transportation equipment to be ready in a timely manner. Viewing this, our operational procedures for general cargo ships are made accordingly. Upon accepting appointment, the shippers or receivers will be contacted for the situation of customs clearance and transportation equipment readiness, and the clients are to be kept informed. While the ship stays in the port, boarding agent will attend to service whenever necessary and coordinate all parties to solve the problem that might arise.

Currently, we handle 4-6 general cargo ship calls per month.

IV. Reefers
Cargoes vary greatly by season and are usually in small tonnage with multiple shippers and consignees being involved. Fast loading/unloading and transportation are required. In view of this, operational procedures are designed accordingly. To ensure smooth operation, upon vessel arrival stevedoring is to be organized, and the shippers or receivers are to be informed for customs clearance and transportation readiness. As the refrigerated cargo is in high value, we are committed to assisting the clients in tallying.

We currently handle ship calls on a monthly basis with the clients being BOYANG LTD, SKC (Seafood Korea Company), etc.

V. Tankers
Tanker is large in tonnage and the berth is far off shore. Necessary precautions need to be taken to avoid oil spillage, fire and explosion. The cargo on board is to be declared prior to tanker arrival.

In view of the above, the operational procedures are designed accordingly. Upon acceptance of appointment, the parties concerned are to be approached for cargo clearance, whilst the declaration for dangerous goods, the plan of berthing and sampling and the preparation for explosion and pollution prevention according to port authorities are to be made. While the tanker stays in the port, boarding agent will remain on board and assist the officers in draft and oil level survey, and in communication with both port operations and tanker side for cargo discharge.

VI. Special Service - Transportation of Large-scale Equipment
Being heavy and irregular in dimensions, such equipment is demanding in stevedoring facilities and inland transportation capabilities.

In view of the above characteristics, special operational procedures are designed accordingly. Dimensions measurement for the equipment is to be done at loading port, for determining the requirements of unloading at discharge port. Thence the transportation method is to be fixed according to the geographical features of discharge port. We are committed to providing intermodal transport featured by CY-CY or door-to-door service and enjoy a good reputation among the clients.

We have successfully performed the transportation of the following projects:

a. 30,000 MT of formaldehyde-producing equipment from Houston, USA to Qingdao, China.

b. A complete set of steel-processing equipment from Taiwan to Jinan via Qingdao port.

c. 200,000 MT of nitric acid equipment from Crystal, MN, USA to Liuhua, Guangxi, China.

d. 200,000 MT of nitric acid equipment from Houston, USA to Hangzhou via Shanghai.

e. 300,000 MT of ammonia oxidization equipment from Dublin, Ireland to Sichuan, China via port of Beihai, Shanghai and Chongqing.
