The use and development of information technology is one of the top priorities of GOSCO. In past years, the company successfully developed and upgraded the operations system and inquiry system. Since July 2004, its state-of-the-art computer system offers real-time information, enabling authorized principals and clients to track their vessel or cargo via internet instantaneously.

 I. Operations System
It’s capable of conducing EDI and international standard documentation, and providing clients with customized documents as required. The data could be interchanged and shared between shipping company, port operations and clients simultaneously.

II. Inquiry System
The movement of the vessel and cargo is able to be traced by the authorized clients via internet when registered. The information available concerns vessel’s movement from the time of her arrival to departure, the status of cargo clearance, readiness, loading and unloading. This system is currently the only one in Qingdao that realizes customs clearance and real-time data interchange between the Customs, port operations and this office. Also, more shipping information related to Port of Qingdao is available including berths, traffic lanes & anchorages, tide & weather and pilotage & tuggage, etc.

III. Other Achievements
Our IT professionals played a significant role in the development and test of information systems that are currently used by various port authorities. The new manifest declaration system of the Qingdao Customs was jointly developed with our participation since Sep 2003 and was officially put in operation on Dec 1, 2003.
